Ooooooh they're fighting in the Philippine sea, that's my home turf right there.
Also, while looking up Shimakaze, found out she sunk at our place too... and she's not that sexy irl. I'll just stick to the anime version. T_T
Nah, real naval vessels get me all hot and bothered. I'm a big ol' nerd for any sort of military craft, whether they drive, fly, float, or other.
Its always good to have such a reliable chibi crew.
Mogami is a cute and tough tomboy.
Mogami is the best!
Chibi airforce putting in work.
*thumbs up*
The fairies were the real MVPs this episode.
They just need an aircraft carrier like Enterprise and a lot of Lucky E's
Yeah, about that... if only Japan didn't lost almost all their carriers in Midway...
To be fair, American pilots also lived longer and became more skilled because Kamikaze attacks meant the Japanese pilots died close to 100% of the time. Dead men cant train rookies. There werent enough skilled Japanese pilots left to keep the use of fighter pilots viable. They miscalculated the Yamato being better more superior than an aircraft carrier. Turns out dropping bombs were way more superior than a battleship's heavy firepower.
they were close to sinking Lucky E in santa cruz
though about the kamikaze at that point it is better mathematically to do kamikaze cause they were so out gun conventional attack is no different to suicides yes get 1 bomb or torp through us AA stacks would cost em all the pilots but if kamikaze at least the escort plane could make it back
the jap biggest mistake is not cycling its aces
us cycle its aces to train newer pilot to make em better while jap keep in them frontline thinking they can kill more plane
turn out 100 advance train pilot is better than 10 ace
and like u said dead men cant train noobs
Nice reference
Haha, wrong game, but yes. XD
Man, Oldendorf's gonna have a field day now that Shigure's fleet had their T crossed
These are the comments that make me happy to be a nerd.
This second season definitely has a much darker tone than either the first season or the movie and I have to say, I'm digging it! I'm still wondering if we're going to see any of the ship girls from the earlier series.
Also I really like how we're seeing much more of the chibi crew members.
To answer most of what you asked, this anime is historically accurate with the real events of the Battle of Leyte Gulf along with the entire WWII Pacific Theater history, and... sorry to burst your bubble and others as well... but at this point in the WWII Pacific war, the entire Imperial Japanese Navy was on its last legs.
By 1944, ships like Fubuki were no more, Kaga and Akagi were sunk in Midway, all the Akatsuki class destroyers were gone except for Hibiki, only Kongou and Haruna were the sole survivors of their Class, Nagato lost Mutsu... and these are just tiniest examples to give you an idea of the losses that the IJN suffered.
So yeah, many of the Shipgirls from the original anime and the movie were no more... and these are not spoilers by the way, this is stuff that teach you in history class and that you can look up easily in Wikipedia.
I'm not even joking when I'm saying (and everyone else that knows) that this season will be really sad, we're about to lose a bunch of good girls really soon... and that's gonna be painful to watch.
It's not a second season, it's a standalone
Indeed, not only a standalone but it can be considered as an alternate universe of sorts.
I like how those two Abyssal girls were wearing lipstick.
Also, those chibi sailors put in more work than the Strike Witches.
Those were the Abyssal versions of Fusou and Yamashiro - Battleship Princesses, I think.
Me too.
can't wait for real battle :D
It could be either Tennessee and California, or West Virginia and Maryland. Or Pennsylvania and Mississippi
based on wiki its Uss Tennessee class BB
Correction, it's West Virginia. She was the first to see Yamashiro from 42,000 yards away
I mean, the other five were present at Surigao Strait as well, sooo...
It's kinda hard to tell considering there were 2 different sets of sisters that the Americans deployed for that battle, so either the Abyssal twins are West Virginia and Maryland or Tennessee and California.
Ah~ Mogami is just so cute. β₯ She's so cute it's not even fair!
What happened to the uboat?
It saw three destroyers and went "Oh shit!"
Didn't take part in the battle at all, although my guess is that the subs were shadowing them
"Take out those f*cking PT Boats!!!"
Wonderful opening.
What are you both planning to do?...π€
Shigure witnessed all the ships been sunk during a battle. While she run away alone, she been attack at the kota bahru and sunk there
what
Prepare for battle good and well balanced graphics superb until next time.
The Battle of Leyte indeed...was rough. This will be full of feels I'm sure. π₯
This season Kancolle looks promising..
you know japan is screweed
when they use float plane to fight carrier planes
I just found out that PT boats were called that because they Patrol and Torpedo. Would love to see Pixar or some other studio animate the other side of the coin, with the same premise. Somehow I could see the Hot babes of the 7th Fleet.
***EDIT***
I wrote that not knowing Kancolle was based on a video game.
Wheew,.. USS Tennessee is hot.
so, i'm not new to kancolle but i dont really understand one thing. I know these are humanized japanese warships, is the series based on real life wars of the past or is it just the ships vs some unknown enemy?
your words kinda contradictive, i dunno about 2017 - presents situation, but as one of early Kancolle player, as in my understanding most of map events in kancolle are based on historical events, tho they change the other country kanmusu to the abyssals....
so im not very well versed in wars but lets say in WW2 it was japan vs usa, so if they put that in kancolle it would be jp flagships vs the abyssal vessels to represent the us?
.... abyssals are the us xD
Ohhhhhh The Infamous "Jamadaa dokeeee"
what .. i thot they are just .. standing in the water not swayed by the current ..... and turn out they have anchors xD what ? hahahahaha
Man I can't even remember what happened in season 1 and the movie. damn. if I could just go back in time back when I still in college then I have enough time to rewatch anything. damn right now I'm busy 5 days per week. and currently busy trying to beat a game first before doing anything else. damn. no time. much appreciate it if we have a recap to refresh memories.
Man... knowing what happened in the real Battle of Leyte Gulf... I'm not ready for the next episode, it's gonna be especially sad because Shipgirls will make things even more dramatic.
